Synthesizing Accurate Openhole Logs from Surrounding Wells

The Chi Modeling™ service is Halliburton's innovative solution for in-field wells when conventional openhole log measurements are unavailable. It uses artificial intelligence technology in which proprietary algorithms are applied within a neural network to predict highly accurate triple- and quad-combo openhole data, based on pulsed-neutron cased hole data. The service is used in mature fields to screen old wells and wells with missing openhole data. It can help determine if the well is a workover candidate or if it should be considered for plug and abandonment.

Formation evaluation for producing wells without openhole logs can be quickly accomplished through pulsed-neutron logs that are recorded through tubing. This helps to:

  • Evaluate reservoirs for bypassed reserves
  • Replace for missing data, from poor borehole conditions and missing LWD sections
  • Minimize production lost during acquisition by using pulsed neutron tools through tubing
  • Generate reliable open-hole logs when none are available
