Understand the basin, understand the plays

To properly understand proven and potential plays, it is necessary to develop a thorough understanding of sedimentary basins—when and how they formed, the nature of their fill and burial and thermal histories, and the likely stratigraphic and geospatial distribution of key petroleum systems elements.  Whether trying to understand the timing of source rock maturation and expulsion, evaluating reservoir distribution and quality for play fairway analysis, or modeling the long-term dispersal behavior of injected CO2, we have the expertise and technology to support you.

Providing the framework for analyzing Geological Chance of Success

Basin evaluation and play fairway analyses are critical approaches not only to determine where to invest in block/acreage decisions, but also as the fundamental construct for performing a Geological Chance of Success (GCOS) analysis for subsequent prospect generation and evaluation workflows.  The same approach is required for considering the definition and development of a subsurface storage complex for injected CO2.  Each component of the petroleum system or storage complex needs to be assessed, from source rock presence, richness, maturity, and timing to likely presence and effectiveness of reservoir, seal, and trap.  These terms contribute to the probabilistic analysis required to generate risked reserves and can make or break economics further down the lifecycle.  Use of relevant analogues is absolutely critical, especially where uncertainties are unresolved.  We have a unique global view of analogues for all scenarios and a rigorous and consistent approach to analogue selection to avoid unintended subconscious bias.
