Field and well appraisal

Appraisal of a new discovery well and the subsequent understanding of the new field is a multi-disciplinary effort involving geologists, geochemists, geophysicists, and petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, production engineers, and economists. Work will include comprehensive evaluation of the drilled well to understand logging results, test results, actual versus prognosed drilling depths, and adjusting previous interpretations. Once the exploration discovery well is completely understood and re-interpretations are performed, new volumetrics and economics will be performed. If the field is determined to be economic or marginally economic, intensive work will be performed by the team to determine additional appraisal wells or in some cases initial development wells.
