Locating wells from remnant magnetic fields
Talk to an expertThe PMR Passive magnetic ranging service detects the target wellbore relative to the drilling assembly by measuring the magnitude of the magnetic field from the remnant magnetism in the casing string. The PMR service does not require access to the target well, is 100% remote, and can be applied to:
The PMR service can be run with any standard measurement while drilling (MWD) system, or with the GuideStar™ definitive survey measurement service to ensure the drilling does not stop. PMR is typically done remotely. There are no special requirements for the MWD system except for maintaining proper non-magnetic spacing within the drilling BHA.
The Aurora™ surface-access magnetic ranging service provides accurate well placement in SAGD applications without downhole intervention.
WellSpot™ active magnetic-ranging systems use precise sensors to provide data for multiple drilling applications.
The MGT™ magnetic guidance tool is an active magnetic ranging solution that allows parallel wells to be drilled within highly accurate separation tolerances.
The RMRS™ rotary magnet ranging system provides active magnetic ranging to accurately determine the position of nearby wellbores and reduce survey errors.
The GuideStar™ service provides continuous definitive survey measurements using high-resolution sampling for precise wellbore placement.
