Identify and pinpoint costly wellbore leaks

The Halliburton Acoustic Conformance Xaminer (ACX) service is a next generation acoustic analysis tool that uses hydrophone array technology to identify leaks and flow around the wellbore and behind pipe in real time. The ACX service is also capable of casing leak detection, measuring leak flow rates, providing phase estimations, and delivering a 2D flow map analysis for a complete picture of the wellbore.

CASE STUDY / WATER CONFORMANCE TOOLS

Halliburton Water Conformance Tool Suite

An operator used the water conformance suite of tools, including the ACX, to add 1 MMscf/d to one well without increasing water.

Advancements in electronics and sensor technology, sophisticated algorithms, and high-speed telemetry are leading the way to automated drilling.

Case Study: ACX Service

Operator avoids costly workover, saving $3,000,000

The ACX service identified a leak in the production hanger casing, saving Caelus Energy Alaska a costly workover operation.

Real-time data

The ACX service provides vertical and radial location data, acoustic magnitude, and a frequency map in real time. It also offers a continuous mode to quickly identify areas with possible leaks in the wellbore.

Advanced processing

The ACX tool stores high-definition data internally that can be downloaded at surface and sent to the Halliburton formation and reservoir solutions group for advanced high-definition processing. That data informs flow mapping analysis, creates a map of acoustic activity, and presents it in a 2D image that shows the flow path in the well.

Suite of services

Halliburton designed the ACX service to be part of a full suite of diagnostic services. It can be combined with production logging instruments, cement evaluation instruments, and more to make data-driven decisions.
