Baroid® 41 Weighting Agent

Weighting agent to increase densities of drilling fluids

With a specific gravity of 4.1, BAROID® 41 weighting agent, ground barium sulfate meets the API Specifications 13A, Section 2, for drilling fluid barite.  BAROID 41 weighting agent can be used to increase densities of oil-based and water-based drilling fluids to 21 lb/gal (2516 kg/m3).

Features and benefits of BAROID 41 weighting agent include:

  • Helps increase mud density up to 21 lb/gal (2516 kg/m3)
  • Helps control formation pressures
  • Helps stabilize the borehole
  • Helps prepare solids-laden plugs for well control applications
  • The industry standard weighting agent for drilling fluids
  • Chemically inert
  • Cost-effective weighting agent
