What makes a geological modelling workflow successful? The outcome should allow us to make informed decisions and predict the way the subsurface will behave as we try to produce fluids from it or inject fluids into it. The workflow should use all available data in an efficient way, be underpinned by robust science, and be flexible enough so that it can be adapted to specific objectives, resulting in geologically plausible models of the subsurface showcasing our knowledge and uncertainties.
An effective way to integrate data, interpretations, and the knowledge we have on how geological processes operate is the integration of Earth System Models (ESMs) with Stratigraphic Forward Models (SFMs). Neftex® Predictions, a DecisionSpace® 365 solution utilizes a Paleo ESM to bring a global perspective on Phanerozoic climate, tectonics, sequence stratigraphy, source to sink and ecology. This global perspective provides the necessary inputs for geological process-based SFMs, which allow the simulation of sediment deposition and resulting stratal properties and geometries.
In this webinar we will:
Learn about the science behind Neftex® Earth System models, on how their insights provide global context to subsurface models.
Dive deep into the relevant inputs of a SFM, including eustatic changes, paleo bathymetries, subsidence, sediment flux and constrains on organic matter deposition and preservation.
Build together a SFM of the North African Atlantic Margin, focusing on Cretaceous petroleum system elements, a hot spot for future exploration.
Show how geoscientists can free-up time with this workflow to explore different geologically plausible scenarios within the uncertainties of the model inputs, resulting in a better understanding of the subsurface to support exploration and reservoir decisions.
