REGION - USA

Challenge

  • Install and de-water nine buoyancy modules to the mooring lines of a floating oil production facility
  • 3,000 feet water depth
  • Perform the operation from a DP vessel

Solution

  • Halliburton designed a complete coiled tubing (CT) package with 2-3/8” CT downline able to deploy at 3000 feet depth
  • A ROV was used to enable the tie-ins with each of the buoyancy modules
  • Nitrogen equipment set up to pump from surface via the downline to displace the water

Result

  • Successfully installed and de-watered all nine buoyancy modules
  • The CT downline solution has been proven as a suitable method for de-watering deep water buoyancy modules from a vessel
