Incumbent provider delays, limited support, cybersecurity concerns
North Sea
A North Sea operator faced repeated setbacks in offshore production due to unreliable support from their electric submersible pump (ESP) supplier. Missed lead times and high intervention costs disrupted operations. Given the complexity of hydraulic workover (HWO) unit operations on an active production platform, the operator needed a dependable provider to rapidly deliver a high-performance ESP system, ensure flawless installation, and provide continuous monitoring and support.
The customer’s previous ESP systems suffered from limited stock, long delivery times, and mechanical failures. Capillary chemical injection lines were damaged during installation, jeopardizing long-term ESP performance. Offshore cybersecurity requirements added complexity to digital monitoring and remote optimization needs.
Summit ESP®, a Halliburton service, conducted a detailed factory assessment of each ESP component with the customer. The team designed a custom protector flange to safeguard the capillary line, manufactured locally in Emmen, Netherlands. Early system delivery allowed for comprehensive fit-up testing with HWO tools to help ensure seamless offshore installation. The global field service team installed the system with 100% KPI compliance, removed failed equipment, and commissioned the replacement system. The Intelevate® platform, powered by the Summit Knowledge® digital ecosystem, provided real-time data, health checks, and optimization recommendations from day one.

Hours of daily real-time monitoring and optimization
The fully integrated solution combining critical manufacturing, tailored engineering, and proactive customer service, marked the first deployment of the Intelevate digital platform in the North Sea. It enabled real-time visibility and 24/7 optimization from day one. The ESP system arrived one month ahead of schedule, allowing for thorough pre-checks and in-country fit-up testing. This confirmed compatibility with hydraulic workover (HWO) equipment and helped eliminate risks of nonproductive time (NPT) and minimized deferred production.
The ESP system met production targets and restored offshore reliability. Continuous support through the Intelevate platform sustained operational efficiency. The customer acknoledged the serive quality, marking a milestone in offshore ESP operations.
