Required long-term barrier integrity
Canada
An operator in East Canada faced an unexpected need for a dependable, long-term downhole barrier. Unlike typical short-term barriers used for maintenance, this application required extended reliability to isolate a lower production interval and prevent water ingress. Halliburton provided the 7-in. EV0-Trieve™ retrievable bridge plug (RBP), which delivered exceptional performance for nearly six years and enabled a seamless recovery process.
The operator required a solution that maintained barrier integrity for years rather than weeks. The well’s extended depth of 5745 m measured depth (MD) and 37° deviation added complexity. The operator required technology with proven reliability and compatibility with harsh downhole conditions.
Halliburton collaborated with the operator to conduct a comprehensive technical assessment. The team reviewed metallurgy and elastomer compatibility, analyzed temperature and pressure, and evaluated deviation factors. Halliburton and the customer selected the 7-in. EV0-Trieve™ RBP to ensure mechanical integrity and sealing reliability throughout the extended deployment. Halliburton assessed fluid composition and downhole parameters to optimize material selection and to help ensure long-term performance.
Years of long-term downhole barrier performance
Years of field-proven success
EV0-Trieve RBPs deployed in Newfoundland
Wells to depth of 8,450 m MD
The EV0-Trieve™ RBP delivered six years of uninterrupted barrier performance and was recovered without operational complications. The successful recovery allowed inspection and redress for future use, reducing cost and downtime. With more than 40 deployments in offshore Newfoundland alone, the EV0-Trieve™ system continues to prove its value as a trusted solution for operators who seek dependable barrier integrity and operational efficiency in complex well environments.
