One of Halliburton's employee resource groups makes a difference through donations
Members of iMPACT Argentina, a Halliburton employee resource group (ERG) dedicated to career development, made an impact in their community with giving campaigns, volunteer work, and the Halli-bull mascot. They donated everything from stuffed backpacks and toys to soccer equipment and household items to a children’s home, area schools, and families devastated by a forest fire.
For the “Make the Backpack” campaign, kids from The Yampi Children’s Home made wish lists, and iMPACT members filled backpacks with items from their lists. Later that year, members collected new and gently used toys for the “Donate, Play, Love” campaign. When the campaign wrapped, volunteers delivered the donations and stayed to play.
The “Sports Unite Us” campaign centered on soccer. “The goal of the campaign was to help students understand the importance of integration, equality, and respect through sports,” said Ana Laura Eckerdt, inventory planner for Testing and Subsea, a Halliburton product service line. iMPACT teamed up with Halli-bull, the Halliburton Argentina mascot, to collect soccer balls for a nearby school. When they dropped off the balls, the students challenged the volunteers to a game, and no surprises here, the students won!
Another nearby school wanted to build a fence around its play area. “The students spend a lot of time outside playing soccer and a fence keeps them safe,” Ana Laura said. In a lightbulb moment, members of the iMPACT ERG and Wireline & Perforating product service line remembered some leftover pipes they could donate to the school for the fence.
For the “Save the Woods and their Community” campaign, iMPACT collected clothes, food, household items, bedding, and mattresses for families impacted by a devastating forest fire in the Andean Region. Ana Laura said, “Gathering resources for people who lost their homes is one way iMPACT can help families in the area restart.”
