Discover how Intelevate is changing the future of ESP digital solutions with the power of data science and a collaborative approach.
In September, Halliburton introduced the world to the groundbreaking Intelevate™ digital platform. The Intelevate platform is a new, data science-driven service that helps operators design, build, and operate end-to-end electrical submersible pump (ESP) monitoring solutions.
Susana Tandazo is the Intelevate platform team lead for Halliburton’s Artificial Lift product service line. She has 10 years of industry experience and earned bachelor's degrees in petroleum engineering and economics, and a master's in energy economics.
She recently offered her opinions on this transformative technology:
On the key benefits to the oil & gas industry
I see many benefits to the industry. Things like:
On the origins of Intelevate platform and its role in the industry
We saw a clear demand from operators needing ESP experts that can enable remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of wells and fields with superior customer service. The Intelevate platform allows for the optimization of well and field operations through a cloud-based solution that leads to reduced energy consumption and emissions, contributing to environmental sustainability. One of our critical goals is to have full adoption of this technology with field personnel to lower field visits and make operations safer.
On the Intelevate platform’s success
We understand our customer’s drivers and have a clear established goal that we collaborate with customers to achieve. One customer set an ESP uptime goal of 95% for their field. This is an ambitious goal for an unconventional application with significant gas and solids presence. Through field and engineering collaboration, and proactive remote changes, the Intelevate platform was able to reach that uptime percent several months in a row. The customer trusted our expertise and, after a couple of months, raised the uptime target to 96%. The Intelevate platform met the challenge and exceeded expectations reaching 97% uptime for two consecutive months which increased production and ultimately ESP run life with fewer shutdown events.
On innovation
Innovation is integral to Halliburton’s long-term success in technology. The Intelevate platform relies on cutting-edge technologies and data analytics to cost effectively optimize ESPs. The team has several patent-pending technologies that are used to stay at the forefront of the ever-evolving customer demands.
On Halliburton and the future of digital technology
In the coming years, I foresee the continued advancement of data analytics and AI playing a pivotal role in optimizing operations from event detection to improved daily workflows. Sustainability and decarbonization efforts will drive an increase in remote operations. Higher efficiencies will become a norm for production teams and the adoption of more IIOT technology including Edge devices and wireless sensors will be part of this change. Cybersecurity will remain a top priority as more information is gathered and analyzed. Halliburton will maintain our leadership in the ESP industry through innovation and continuous improvement, and the Intelevate platform will be an essential element.
