System helps gain advanced control over equivalent circulation densities and improved pressure management
Talk to an ExpertThe BaraXcel family of fluids delivers more control over equivalent circulating densities (ECDs) and allows for improved pressure management. As drilling stops and shear rates begin to decline, BaraXcel shows a relatively flat viscosity profile that creates fragile gels and prevents barite sag.
The fluid properties are managed through the application of innovative emulsifiers, polymers, and rheology modifiers. These products replace modified particulates (such as organophilic lignites and clays) and result in a robust yet fragile gel structure. This framework also provides optimal rheology behavior in deepwater environments where the fluid encounters low and high temperatures.
BaraXcel is proven and implemented in regions across the globe.
Since early 2020, U.S. operators have used BaraXcel systems to successfully drill more than 50 lateral sections, each reaching four miles (21,120 feet) or more. Many of these wells were drilled at a record rate of penetration (ROP) and reached up to nearly 12,500 feet per day.
BaraXcel and BaraECD integrate with Drilling Fluid Graphics (DFG™) software to model operational conditions and rigorously design and qualify custom drilling fluids programs.
