Formation testing in environments unmatched by any other service in the industry
The search for hydrocarbons in high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) conditions should not exclude the collection of pressure/volume/temperature (PVT) samples and formation pressures. Over the last decade, we have led the way in obtaining formation pressure and samples in hostile environments. Using the same proven reliability and durability, our Xaminer® Hostile Formation Tester (XHT) service delivers these critical evaluation components at 450°F (232°C) and 35,000 psi. Using new technology pump designs, it builds upon the proven platform of the Hostile Sequential Formation Tester (HSFT-II™) tool.
Pressure testing with variable pretest control
Measured volume, rate, and pressure control ensures high-quality pressures are obtained in both low- and high-mobility formations. This allows for multiple drawdowns to be performed at each station. Smart tool automation maximizes the use of a large volume variable pretest with high rates for high mobility. It also reduces flowline storage tests in low mobility.
Dual probe and oval pad
The XHT dual-probe section has optional pad configurations. The two-pad option enables understanding of formation anisotropy and heterogeneity. The larger flow area and vertical span of the oval-pad option increases flow rate and obtains pressures in low mobility and laminated formations.
PVT samples up to 450°F (232°C)
Historically, PVT samples and fluid identification were not possible above 400°F (204°C), and low-quality bulk samples were collected. This means fluids in place were estimated and not measured. The XHT service enables multiple clean PVT samples to be collected, including fluid identification at temperatures up to 450°F (232°C).
