The Geo-Pilot® Duro™ rotary steerable system (RSS) is engineered for improved durability and performance in harsh environments, where optimal drilling efficiency, trip time, and mud-loss control are essential. Marking a major advancement in RSS performance, the system is a robust solution for challenging drilling conditions and ideal for deepwater and extended-reach reservoirs.
Taking our innovative Geo-Pilot® platform to the next level
Other rotary steerable systems have limitations that impede or complicate efficient access to the reservoir, especially in deepwater and extended-reach wells. These limitations include tool durability, overgauge and tortuous wellbores, the capacity for high concentration of lost circulation material (LCM), steering accuracy, and flow-by area.
The Geo-Pilot Duro RSS builds on the Halliburton Geo-Pilot platform to overcome these limitations. The Geo-Pilot platform is a point-the-bit RSS that does not rely on the formation to geosteer, especially advantageous in challenging soft formations. In addition, no other rotary steerable system on the market provides the same near-bit measurement distance for gamma ray and inclination, as well as the superior lost circulation material capability for mud-loss control.
The Geo-Pilot Duro RSS is fully integrated with the Halliburton Drilling Engineering Solutions (DES) to maximize efficiency and optimize well placement.
Increased flow-by area
Strong, self-cleaning reference stabilizer
Enhanced RPM and wider operating range
Rugged bearings and electronics
Enhanced shock and vibration performance
Unmatched lost-circulation material (LCM) performance with Geo-Pilot Duro enhanced BHA – no tool limitations
Reduced drill out time, Higher ROP, Increased tripping speed
Optimal well placement: Improved tool face control, with no cutting accumulation
Improved stick-slip tolerance and overload protection
Increased drilling duration at high levels of shock and vibration, with improved stick-slip tolerance over conventional RSS
Fewer trips and reduced drilling time: Stop mud loss and then continue drilling
In Brazil’s presalt deepwater reservoirs, being able to accurately drill to the well plan at water depths of over 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) is difficult because of the long and complex salt sections present before reaching the hydrocarbons.
The Geo-Pilot Duro is a rotary steerable system (RSS) engineered for improved durability and performance in harsh environments, where optimal drilling efficiency, trip time, and mud-loss control are essential.
