Salt Canopy

The deepwater Gulf of Mexico contains massive salt bodies, which can reach thicknesses of more than 20,000 feet (6,096 meters). The extensive salt canopy greatly impacts seismic imaging quality. Its intrusion in the surrounding rock creates problems for every step of the exploration, drilling, completion and production operations.

Halliburton provides advanced seismic processing and analyses for a much improved picture of the subsurface. Critical geological data — acquired in the borehole with high-resolution electrical imaging tools — provides defining details such as reservoir characteristics, formation contacts, laminations and faulting. With our comprehensive portfolio of deepwater solutions, we help operators customize the wellbore architecture to meet well placement requirements while mitigating drilling and completion risks associated with Salt Canopy operations.
