The clear answer to excess CO 2 is Carbon Capture & Storage
Of all the methods currently being tested and evaluated for commercial use, so far carbon capture and storage (CCS) is widely considered to be the most practical—and effective—means to reduce emissions of CO2 and other GHG (greenhouse gases) into the atmosphere. CCS involves transporting CO2 from power plants and other industrial businesses to saline aquifers and oil and gas reservoirs. Once there, the CO2 is injected into the reservoir via a well where it is then monitored to detect and prevent leakage.
Effective Carbon Capture & Storage: Brought to you by the company that has been safely handling—and redeploying—CO2 for over 40 years: Halliburton
Founded in 1919, Halliburton made its name by helping customers take hydrocarbons out of the ground. Now we’re taking the knowledge and technology we have developed for extracting hydrocarbons and using it “in reverse” to put the CO2 back.
For starters, we bring to this challenge more than 40 years experience working with CO2 injection for enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
Ways Halliburton can help:
From these EOR technologies and capabilities, we have assembled and refined the tools to make Carbon Capture & Storage a reality.
