The guide shoe runs on the first joint of casing to be run into the hole to help maneuver the casing past annular irregularities. The guide shoe includes an open end and side ports to enable fluid circulation for mud conditioning, hole cleaning and cement placement.
The float shoe contains a backpressure valve that prevents fluids from entering the casing while the pipe is lowered into the hole and prevents cement from flowing back into the casing after placement, while enabling circulation down through the casing.
The Super Seal II system is now adding the universal blank
RPT reamer shoe (Figure 1), designed to cut a variety of casing
threads within a given casing size and weight range. The Super Seal
II float valve has been used in cementing operations in every part
of the globe where reliability and dependability are required.
Halliburton formation packer shoes are installed on the bottom of casing in applications where casing will be set on top of a producing formation. In addition to the standard packer shoe line offered by Halliburton, premium threads are available for specific customer applications. Typically, formation packer shoes are used to pack off an open hole below the casing to help protect low
pressure formations against cement contamination.
