Sweeping Agents

Halliburton offers two viscosities of sweeping agents to help operators effectively remove cuttings from the wellbore. Turbulence associated with low viscosity sweeps stirs the cuttings bed, and high viscosity fluids "sweep" the solids to the surface.

Summary Summary SWEEP-WATE® Weighting Material - Product Data Sheet
SWEEP-WATE® selectively sized barite is used in high density sweeps and slugs to enhance hole cleaning in deviated wells.
Summary Summary CON DET® - Product Data Sheet
CON DET®, a blend of water soluble anionic surfactants, can be used in fresh or salt water and in low-solids muds as a wetting agent.
Summary Summary BAROID® 41 Weighting Material- Product Data Sheet
BAROID® 41 weighting material is ground Barite and used to increase the density of drilling fluids to control formation pressures. BAROID 41 weighting material has a specific gravity of 4.1 and can be used to increase the density in oil and water-based drilling fluids up to 20 lb/gal (2.40 SG). BAROID 41 weighting material is more widely available than standard BAROID weighting material. It is chemically inert and does not affect drilling fluid chemical properties
Summary Summary CON DET® E - Product Data Sheet
CON DET® E blend of water soluble anionic surfactants can be used in fresh or salt water and in low-solids drilling fluids as a wetting agent. CON DET E wetting agent is specially formulated to meet North Sea discharge standards.
Summary Summary BAROLIFT® - Product Data Sheet
BAROLIFT® sweeping agent is a specially treated monofilament fiber.
Summary Summary XLR-RATE™ Pipe-Freeing Agent - Product Data Sheet
XLR-RATE™ proprietary blend of synthetic fluids is specifically engineered to help enhance the rate of penetration while drilling.
Summary Summary BAROLIFT® Outperforms High-Vis Sweeps in Milling and Fishing Operation
The Baroid team recommended using BAROLIFT® sweeping agent to clean the debris and cuttings from the hole while at the same time having no impact on the overall system mud properties and minimizing the need to spend time diluting the active system.
Summary Summary BAROLIFT® Sweeps Deliver Exceptional Swarf Lifting Capacity
In Algeria’s Bir Seba field, Groupement Bir Seba (GBRS) planned a workover operation to retrieve an existing 3-1/2-inch completion string from the BRS-15 well. To achieve this, the operator wanted to run in the hole with a milling bottomhole assembly (BHA) and mill over a production packer. This would allow GBRS to retrieve other completion assembly components and then run new 3-1/2-inch tubing.
Summary Summary Sweeping Agents
High viscosity and low viscosity sweeps can be used to effectively remove cuttings from the wellbore. The turbulence of the low viscosity sweep stirs the cuttings bed and the high viscosity fluid carries the solids to the surface.
