Operator's Challenge

The operator encountered an underpressured zone about 2,000 ft above the planned target and wanted to cement across this zone without breaking it down and losing the cement into the zone.

Halliburton's Solution

Halliburton ran the OptiCem^TM cementintg simulation program and determined that the operator could use conventional cement slurries on the lower zone and place a multi-stage cementer in the casing string below the underpressured zone.

A Zoneseal® foam cement job could then be pumped across the underpressured zone without losing returns.

Economic Value Created

The operator was able to isolate the upper zone and will be able to complete this zone at a later date when the initial target zone is depleted.

The estimated economic value to the customer was $3,180,000.00.
