"One unique thing that I’ve seen with Halliburton is that the opportunity for training is truly whatever you make of it. The training opportunities are endless."

What attracted you to a career with Halliburton?

When I graduated from college, I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to get into or specialize in. So when I first learned about the Supply Chain Management Program at Halliburton, I saw that it would give me the opportunity to do six-month rotations in various fields of the supply chain, gain experience in different functions and gain knowledge about different aspects of Halliburton’s supply chain.

What type of experiences have you had within Halliburton’s Supply Chain Management Program?

I started off working in Manufacturing, doing Lean Six Sigma projects. Working a couple of rotations within the group was a good introduction to the Halliburton culture and Halliburton Manufacturing as a whole. Next, I had the opportunity to travel to our various field camps in the U.S. to help them improve their processes. I’ve also worked with our global logistics department, traveling internationally to set up connections of hubs throughout the world.

How has the work you’ve done with Halliburton and your time in the SCMP helped to develop your leadership skills?

Not only has being able to go through (Halliburton’s) training given me a better understanding of different leadership styles and ways to approach different situations, it’s helped me develop leadership skills by allowing me to work with various members of upper management throughout the whole company.

When you do these six-month rotations through different departments and facilities throughout the world, you get to interact with various members of upper management along the way. You get to learn from people who’ve been successful and apply (their knowledge) to your own situations.

Assignments/Opportunities

I have the unique opportunity to go live in Europe for the next couple of months as part of my last rotation in the SCMP. Within that role, I’ll be responsible for opening up a logistics hub that will be part of a network of crossdocks that are being deployed in different regions globally.

I think I was chosen to work on this particular project for a couple of reasons. I was ready to live and work internationally and I prepared for the opportunity based on my previous experience and things that I’ve learned on previous rotations with the Halliburton Supply Chain Management Program.

What type of learning and development opportunities has Halliburton offered you?

One unique thing that I’ve seen with Halliburton is that the opportunity for training is truly whatever you make of it. The training opportunities are endless. All you need to do is voice your interest in a particular subject and you can receive training on it, whether through an online class or an instructor led course. For example, I’ve been able to take a bronze-level Lean Six Sigma Certification that was paid for by Halliburton.
