SpecDecomp® Spectral Decomposition Software

Description    |   Features   |    System Requirements

SpecDecomp® spectral decomposition software is an innovative reservoir imaging and interpretation technology.
Provides greater resolution of reservoir properties than traditional broad-band seismic displays. The outcome is a more certain interpretation of reservoir potential.

BP developed the original proprietary spectral decomposition technology and selected Landmark to commercially deploy it. SpecDecomp software was developed further in partnership with BP and Apache Corporation. The technology includes patented and patent-pending intellectual property from these companies.

Spectral decomposition technology generates very detailed images by extracting a suite of amplitude maps from a range of frequency slices in the reservoir zone. Each map illuminates peak amplitude response from a different bed thickness.

By selectively combining images from certain frequencies, SpecDecomp technology clearly portrays unique geologic relationships. Animation techniques exploit motion, allowing interpreters to unravel complex variability in reservoir heterogeneities and thickness.

Benefits
Detailed reservoir images
SpecDecomp images provide greater resolution of thin-bed reservoir characteristics and subtle faults than do traditional broad-band seismic displays. The images are related to physical reservoir properties, providing unprecedented understanding of reservoir heterogeneities, boundaries and thickness.

Integrated workflows
Any interpreter can quickly generate high-resolution images and immediately incorporate the images into DecisionSpace Desktop®, SeisWorks®, or GeoProbe® workflows.

Features
Tuning Cube

For a given seismic analysis window, Tuning Cube generates amplitude and phase response for each frequency over range of frequencies. Data is displayed as a volume where the z axis is now the frequency axis. Animating through the spectral decomposition images allows interpreters to detect subtle changes in reservoir thickness and heterogeneity not obvious in static displays.

Volume Recon
Volume Recon extends Tuning Cube so you can use animation to see subtle changes in depositional environment and reservoir scale faulting by generating volumes at key frequencies chosen from Tuning Cube.

Tuning Mapper
Tuning Mapper combines Tuning Cube or Volume Recon images into maps so that polygons and faults can be interpreted. Tuning maps are amplitude or phase data from a single image at each frequency slice or the combination of multiple images as directed by the interpreter.

Integration with DecisionSpace Desktop®, SeisWorks®, and GeoProbe® Applications
SpecDecomp software works with the same seismic data and horizons being applied in the interpretation process. Results can be integrated immediately leaving more time for interpretation.
