Bioremediation Services
Natural bioremediation minimizes environmental impact
Using the natural process of remediation by encouraging bacteria and fungi to convert hydrocarbons into CO2 and water; the bioremediation process leaves behind an enhanced, hydrocarbon-free soil with high organic and mineral content. As hydrocarbons are eliminated or reduced, so is the potential liability of these drilling waste streams. Baroid has been successfully using bioremediation to treat and dispose of contaminated drilled cuttings globally since 1988.
The ideal biological environment can ensure excellent results
A highly efficient bioremediation process requires optimal environmental conditions. Naturally occurring microbes, already present in the waste streams, can slowly metabolize hydrocarbons naturally. However, Baroid scientists can significantly accelerate the rate of bioremediation through periodic monitoring and adjustment of key parameters designed to optimize the microbial environment. Optimization of the process may extend to selection of the drilling fluid and base oil or through simple balancing of fertilizer and organic amendment ratios.
Cost-effective, reliable disposal
Bioremediation is one of the least expensive disposal methods for drilling waste, provided there is adequate time and physical space for the process. Natural biological processes have no high energy requirements and no harmful emissions. The hydrocarbons are converted to heat, CO2 and water, minimizing environmental impact.
A Customized Approach
By working with each operator individually and planning each job based on specific project factors and local environmental regulations, Baroid personnel can help determine the best disposal option for your next waste management project.
