Pulsed Spectral Gamma (PSGSM) Logging Service

Accurate Determinations: Through-Casing Oil Saturations

The Pulsed Spectral Gamma (PSG™) logging tool enhances oil recovery by accurately measuring oil saturations over a wide range of porosities and borehole conditions. The PSG tool is fully compatible with other Halliburton DITS tools, and PSG tool data can be easily combined with other openhole and cased-hole logging data for enhanced post-logging analysis.

The PSG tool measures gamma rays produced when high-energy neutrons emitted by the tool interact with the formation. The tool scales calcium and silicon elemental indicators to provide a lithology-indicating overlay (see figure). The PSG tool uses carbon/oxygen and calcium/silicon ratios as quick-look oil indicators for oil-bearing formations. An advanced detector design and superior data processing enable the tool to log over three times faster than traditional carbon/oxygen tools.
