Hostile Dual Induction Log (HDIL™) Tool
The HDIL tool is an open hole electric wireline tool used to measure formation resistivity in high temperature, high pressure wells. The tool provides three resistivity measurements: short normal, medium induction, and deep induction. Also, an SP from a built-in sensor is included in the log. Flushed zone resistivity is computed from the short normal measurement. The medium induction reading corresponds with combined flushed- and invadedzone resistivity, while the deep induction data is used to compute the true formation resistivity. HDIL data needs to be corrected for borehole environmental and invasion effects prior to using it in formation evaluation.
