Features in sedimentary beds and laminates are easier to spot with the AutoDipSM and TrendSetterSM, services that automate dip and dip trend analysis of electrical micro-imaging (EMI™) borehole data. AutoDip service uses data from all 150 resistivity buttons-rather than just a small sampling-to accurately measure dips. TrendSetter service adds more functionality by sorting dip data into three categories (see figure below) to help characterize geologic features based on dip trends.
These services do more than eliminate the tedium of manual dip picking. AutoDip service goes beyond traditional computation methods and operates independently of parameters such as correlation length, step length and search angles that only correlate raw resistivity data. TrendSetter service separates dips from stratigraphic events such as current bedding, slumps and drapes to yield better estimates of local structural dip.
