Advantage™ IPV Insert Poppet Valve

Float equipment offers reliability and cost efficiency

Halliburton’s Advantage IPV (Insert Poppet Valve) gives operators a reliable and economical poppet valve that replaces traditional flapper-valve equipment used in threaded and coupled casing strings. Based on proven Super Seal II® technology, the Advantage IPV shortens drillout times with a patented design that incorporates plastic and concrete rather than metal, and the valve allows the casing to fill while running in hole, thereby saving more rig time and associated costs. Other features include:

  • No threads = easier valve installations
  • No explosed concrete in the valve throat = shorter drillouts
  • Uniform pressure drop across the valve
  • Inert to most oilfield fluids
  • Extremely resistant to fluid erosion

Advantage IPV prevents cement slurry from infiltrating casing after displacement, and the valve’s applications include high-rate conditioning and cementing in vertical or deviated wells at temperatures up to 200°F. Wide versatility and shorter drillout times clearly identify Advantage IPV as a leading option for most wells.

Technical specifications include:

  • Automatic fill device standard on all sizes
  • Installation strap available for 8 5/8 in. and larger assemblies
  • Can be used with most API 8 RD, Long 8 RD, and Buttress casing weights
  • 2¼ in. poppet valve (for 3½ through 4 ½ in. casing) flow tested at 6 bpm for 24 hr
  • 2¾ in. poppet valve (for 5½ through 13 3/8 in. casing) flow tested at 10 bpm for 24 hr
