BARADRIL-MAG™ System
Designed to Secure Maximum Permeability of Acid Sensitive Injection Zones
The BARADRIL-MAG™ system is one of the fluid systems within Baroid's DRIL-N™ fluids family. It is specifically designed and formulated for drilling acid-sensitive formations prior to water injection. Instead of the conventional calcium carbonate used in acid-degradable drill-in fluids, the BARADRIL-MAG™ system utilizes specially processed sized MgO as bridging material that is removed with Baroid’s N-FLOW™ ammonium salt solution breaker. It does not require acid for cleanup.
Advantages of the BARADRIL-MAG System:
- Achieves the desired drill-in fluid properties with simple additives
- Improves wellbore clean-up efficiency / uniformity
- Maximizes injectivity without a live acid treatment
- Reduces the need for coil tubing intervention
- Unlike clean-up with acids and corrosion inhibitors, the clean-up fluid for the BARADRIL-MAG™ system is safer for both personnel and the environment, and helps prevent corrosion of downhole screens and tubulars.
Typical Formulations:
The BARADRIL-MAG™ system can be used in a wide range of base fluids including sodium chloride brine, sodium bromide brine and calcium chloride brine, in weight ranges from 8.33 to over 14.0 lb/gal. The following table shows formulations for sodium chloride and sodium bromide brines.
