Properly Filtered Fluids Help Minimize Formation Damage and Improve Producibility

Baroid 1600 Sq. Ft. Filter PressFluid contaminants such as cuttings, rust, pipe dope, scale, paraffin and polymer residues can enter the wellbore during normal well operations. Baroid’s filtration technology is designed to provide solids-free fluids that will help prevent damage to the reservoir and improve the well’s producibility.

The primary challenge for a filtration system is efficiently processing the specific size and quantity of particles found in the contaminated completion or workover fluid. These particles are never uniformly sized and distributed, and a range of removal methods may be required on a single job.

Baroid filtration services are provided by well-qualified personnel who are familiar with various filtration techniques and media. Baroid filtration systems are adaptable and can be easily configured to meet a wide spectrum of filtration requirements.

The Filtration Process

The Baroid 1600SF/1200SF/800SF DE filter press is the primary device for the filtration of completion, workover and packer fluids. Filtration is needed to prevent solids from entering the reservoir and impairing well producibility. The filter screens of each plate and frame unit are pre-coated with a filter media.

  • The 1600SF unit has 64 filter plates with a total filter plate surface area of 1600 ft2 and operates at a working pressure of 60-80 psi.
  • The 1200SF unit has 49 filter plates with a total filter plate surface area of 1200 ft2 and operates at a working pressure of 60-80 psi.
  • The 800SF unit has 34 filter plates with a total filter plate surface area of 800 ft2 and operates at a working pressure of 60-80 psi.
