A range of modular power sections is available to match the motor output to the specific requirements of each project and the style of bit. Sperry offers high-speed motors for drilling in harder formations, where diamond impregnated bits are preferred. For drilling in softer formations where roller cone bits perform well, Sperry has slower speed motors that provide torque while minimizing the number of rotations on the bit bearings for longer life. When drilling with polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bits, Sperry has low and medium speed motors with very high torque output for maximum rate of penetration and long life downhole. Power units are available to address a wide range of speed, torque and fluid requirements, including conventional drilling muds, foam and air.
SperryDrill and GeoForce motors can be further configured to suit any drilling environment, balancing the power section with the right lower-end bearing assemblies to enhance performance and reliability.
The SperryDrill/GeoForce XL and XLS series motors are the most powerful and reliable motors in the industry today.
- XL Series motors – higher power, higher torque motor with a rugged mud lubricated bearing assembly
- XLS Series motors – higher power, higher torque motor with a rugged sealed bearing assembly
The XL and XLS series motors deliver unsurpassed performance and reliability including 80 percent more power, 65 percent more torque load, 50 percent increase on operating differential pressure and shorter bit-to-bend distance for improved build rates.
