Planning is where limitations to performance are identified, with options to overcome them assessed and implemented at the appropriate stage of operations.

To ensure that requirements of entire drilling process, not just individual components, are understood, requires close collaboration with the operator to model expected behavior, design or customize the required equipment and develop a program that best addresses well construction needs. This phase also allows any performance limitations to be identified so that alternative operational options can be assessed and later implemented if necessary.
