Surge Reduction Equipment

The well is usually full of drilling fluid when the casing is run into the well during drilling operations and prior to cementing operations.  During casing placement, the casing will act as a piston or plunger, pushing the drilling fluid into the formation – unless the drilling fluid is able to flow back into the casing.  Halliburton offers auto-fill assemblies that allow wellbore fluids to enter the casing as it is being run into the wellbore.  Surge reduction float shoes and float collars reduce the effective wellbore surge pressure to help operators avoid losing valuable drilling fluid and damaging the formation.

Commander™ 1000 Top-Drive Cementing Head
Commander™ 1000 top-drive cementing head is designed for offshore operations to surface launch balls or darts in order to operate subsea plug sets and associated tools.
PDF™ (Pressure Differential Equipment) Float Collars and Shoes
Permits fluid entry into the casing through the bottom to maintain a controlled differential pressure between the inside and outside of the casing being run in the hole.
Super Seal II® Down-Jet Float Shoe
Along with the center hole through the valve, provides four fluid ports located below the float valve on the side of the shoe case body to help increase hold-cleaning efficiency.
Super Seal™ II Float Collars
Designed to perform reliably under the harshest downhole conditions. Easy to drill out with PDC or roller-cone bits.
SuperFill™ Auto-Fill Equipment
Reduces surge pressures and stops expensive mud losses.
