HALLIBURTON FACILITY RECEIVES OSHA STAR AWARD
BROUSSARD, Louisiana - Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) announced today that an Energy Services Group facility in Broussard, Louisiana, is the recipient of a certificate and flag from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) in recognition of its appointment as a Star Site within the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). In a ceremony today, OSHA representatives, John Miles and Greg Honaker, will present the award to Halliburton Manufacturing Plant Manager Eric Boudreaux.
"We are very proud of this accomplishment," said Boudreaux. "It validates Halliburton's commitment to excellence in matters pertaining to employee safety, health and environment.
The VPP promotes effective worksite-based safety and health, according to the OSHA web site. Through the program, management labor, and OSHA establish cooperative relationships at work places that have implemented a comprehensive safety and health management system. Admittance into VPP is OSHA's official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health.
Also on the OSHA web site, the VPP is described as a roadmap to safety excellence. Companies in VPP have injury and illness rates more than 50 percent below the averages for their industries. Becoming a Star site shows both that employers value their workers' safety and health and that they value a cooperative approach.
