LANDMARK UPGRADES HOUSTON-BASED REAL-TIME DECISION CENTER
- Enhancements lead to state-of-the-art immersive collaboration and decision making environment -
HOUSTON, Texas - Magic Earth, Inc., an affiliate of Landmark Graphics Corporation, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), announced today that it has upgraded the SEOS projection system in its state-of-the-art visualization center to incorporate DLP projectors and real-time video display processing. For the first time in the oil and gas industry, users will be able to use SEOS ScorpionRT technology to simultaneously access multiple computer platforms while using video conferencing to collaborate with remote sites - all on the same immersive screen.
"Visualization facilities have proven their value in the E&P industry for collaboration, real-time decision making and immersive visualization. Whether it is for real-time decision making, or real-time operations, Landmark is committed to continuing to develop technologies and expertise that supports optimal use of visualization environments for our customers," said Andy Lane, president and CEO of Landmark. "Our recent investment to upgrade the Magic Earth facility in Houston, Texas ensures that our customers can benefit from leading edge innovation in both software and facility technology to improve decision making and increase exploration and production success."
Along with the new, brighter projectors, the Magic Earth visualization center is now equipped with the first ScorpionRT installation in the oil and gas industry. ScorpionRT is a new projection/display management system from SEOS that combines input from several sources into scalable windows across multiple projectors.
"SEOS is proud to have partnered with Landmark for the upgrade to Magic Earth's POD facility. The POD is the E&P industry's first truly collaborative environment, featuring SEOS' Scorpion™ Display Management System. This enables users to remain in real-time 3D stereo with an application like GeoProbe, whilst using other Landmark products such as DecisionSpace™ in non-stereo mode. In addition, other workstations, video conferencing displays, laptops, DVD and VCR's can all be simultaneously combined in the overall viewing space. This technology gives E&P professionals an unrivalled environment in which to use GeoProbe and gain the maximum benefit from their seismic data," said Owen Wynn, chief executive officer, SEOS.
Consisting of a ScorpionRT multi-window display management system, a fully integrated Tandberg video/voice conferencing system in the viewing area, Barco Galaxy 5000 lumen DLP projectors and a 160 degree spherical screen, the visualization center is the first of its kind.
