LANDMARK GRAPHICS SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY OF KAZAKHSTAN TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT NATIONAL DATA BANK OPERATION
- Company to develop data management operation using Landmark's market-leading PetroBank technology -
HOUSTON, Texas - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), announced today the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agreement calls for the design, development and implementation of a National Data Bank (NDB) operation for exploration and production (E&P) data using Landmark's PetroBank technology, the most advanced networked multi-client data management system in the E&P industry.
"The agreement with Landmark gives Kazakhstan an opportunity to create a quality-controlled and highly secure database for the management of its national asset of oil and gas data and to establish a government-industry National Data Bank operation similar to other successful PetroBank based multi-client operations in countries such as the United Kingdom, Norway and Brazil," said Bulat S. Uzhkenov, Chairman of the Geology and Subsoil Protection Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. "We are confident that the NDB will increase the effectiveness of the Kazakhstan E&P industry by providing secure online access to high quality data and knowledge. The NDB will serve as a national archive and by its nature attract inward investment."
"Kazakhstan is rapidly becoming a major producer and exporter of hydrocarbons," said John Gibson, president and CEO of Halliburton Energy Services. "The Ministry's decision to leverage Landmark's data management solutions and experience is an indication of the confidence that they have in the direction that we are taking the PetroBank data hosting and management services."
"Landmark is pleased that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan selected Landmark's PetroBank services to establish its National Data Bank operation. The installation and use of PetroBank will provide an opportunity for data management specialists in Kazakhstan to extend their expertise in E&P information management through implementation of Landmark's best-in-class technology," said Andy Lane, Landmark's president and CEO.
