KBR'S ABERDEEN GRADUATE NUMBERS TO REACH NEW HIGH

ABERDEEN - KBR's Aberdeen-based Production Services group, announced today that it is recruiting nearly 30 engineering graduates to its workforce in a key move to help offset the recognised skills shortage in the North Sea oil and gas industry. KBR is the engineering and construction subsidiary of Halliburton (NYSE:HAL).

In what is believed to be one of the largest single graduate recruitment exercises in the industry in the UK, 29 new employees are formally joining KBR Production Services after completing their studies at universities throughout the UK. The company, which launched a new graduate development programme in 2000, is now employing a record number of graduates.

Today's intake - one the eve of Offshore Europe 2003 - includes instrument, mechanical, process, structural, electrical and safety engineers, as well as one information technology and one health and safety graduate. Their places of study included Aberdeen University and The Robert Gordon University, as well as Edinburgh, Heriot Watt, Sheffield, Dundee, Leicester, Northumbria and Surrey.

Bob Keiller, KBR Production Services UK Operations Director, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming our new graduates on board today. We hope it gives the wider industry a confidence boost, particularly at a time when its profile could scarcely be higher in Aberdeen.

"We are committed to taking a proactive approach to tackling the acknowledged skills gap in the oil and gas industry. We are leaders in our industry for recruiting apprentices, and now we are employing a record number of graduates."

KBR has retained of all the graduates employed into the scheme in the past three years and is now able to attract exceptional new entrants on the strength of the reputation of its graduate development programme.

The new graduates are now embarking upon a week-long programme of introductory events.
