FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 15, 2003
KBR SELECTED AS PREFERRED BIDDER FOR CONLOG
LONDON - Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) has been selected by the UK Ministry of Defence as the Preferred Bidder for the Contract for Logistics Support (CONLOG) to provide support services to the British armed forces. KBR is the engineering and construction subsidiary of Halliburton (NYSE:HAL).
The award is for a seven-year enabling contract under which KBR will deliver logistic support services to British forces worldwide. As part of the contract, a small KBR team will be embedded into the Permanent Joint Force Headquarters at Northwood to provide planning input for a wide range of operational services. This competitively tendered contract was won by KBR against strong international competition.
Tony Pryor, Chief Operating Officer for KBR's Government Operations business in Europe and Africa said: 'KBR has unrivalled experience in the successful delivery of this type of project and understands the strategic importance of CONLOG. This award has highlighted the role of KBR as one of the top five defence contractors in the UK. It further reinforces KBR's leading position in supporting deployed operations worldwide, including work which we are currently doing for the British forces in Iraq.'
CONLOG will significantly improve the contracting process for commercial support for British forces and will provide the Ministry of Defence with a rapid, responsive and reliable means of contracting for a wide range of combat service support for deployed operations and exercises. KBR has been providing a similar service to the US military since 2001 under its Logistic Civil Augmentation Programme (LOGCAP).
The CONLOG service is expected to commence in November 2003. KBR, as the Prime Contractor, has selected Serco, Inchcape Shipping Services and International SOS as team members.
KBR provides worldwide engineering, procurement, construction, logistics, operation and maintenance, programme management and other technical services. Whether designing a chemical plant, serving as a defence industry contractor, or providing capital construction, KBR delivers world class service and performance. KBR employs 53,000 people in 87 countries around the world.
