HALLIBURTON'S LAFONTAINE RECEIVES
'KEY WOMEN IN ENERGY' HONOR
Houston, Texas - At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., Jackie LaFontaine, a division vice president for Halliburton Energy Services' Completions, was recently named 2003 winner in the visionary category of RaderEnergy's 'Key Women in Energy Americas.' The event was part of two simultaneous conferences -- the Edison Electric Institute (EEI)/Canadian Electric Association joint CEO conference and the EEI/American Gas Association joint directors' conference.
The mission of the honors program is to identify, recognize, and honor excellence in individual performance in the energy industry. "The honorees are women who have made an exceptional contribution to their company, country, or the global energy marketplace," according to the RaderEnergy web site.
Program material defines a visionary as a forward-thinking individual who marches to the beat of a different drummer, with the foresight and/or courage to initiate or carry out change.
"Jackie certainly embodies the visionary definition," according to members of the Halliburton Deepwater technical team. "She has three patents on completion technology and is responsible for initiating and planning an industrywide horizontal completion study with two other industry leaders that resulted in the sharing and analyzing of data collectively across the industry that expedited the development of the technology."
LaFontaine has 18 years of petroleum industry experience (seven with Halliburton) and holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University. In addition to this honor, she recently traveled to Germany where she was a global nominee for the 50 Key Women in Energy worldwide.
