LANDMARK ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF STRATWORKS 3D
- Breakthrough 3D Geologic Interpretation and Modeling System for Oil and Gas Exploration -
HOUSTON, Texas - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), announced today the release of StratWorks® 3D. The new release adds 3D visualization and interpretation capabilities to the StratWorks® family of interpretation tools; the exploration and production (E&P) industry's most widely used stratigraphic application suite.
StratWorks 3D provides an integrated 3D visualization and interpretation environment for analyzing and understanding complex geological environments, enabling improved reservoir development decisions. Historically, stratigraphic interpretation has been performed in a 2D visualization environment where multiple cross sections and maps were used to simulate 3D interpretations. StratWorks 3D provides an advanced environment where subsurface analysis can be performed in a true spatial context, enabling geologists and engineers to accurately and efficiently define geologic regimes and characterize reservoirs.
"Today's oil and gas asset teams are evaluating increasingly complex structural and stratigraphic reservoir environments that require sophisticated tools to understand and model accurately," said Kandy Lukats, Landmark's Systems vice president of Exploration and Development. "With the benefit of seeing multiple data types simultaneously, geoscientists can confidently interpret the most difficult stratigraphic situations quickly and easily."
Advanced 3D visualization capabilities of StratWorks 3D coupled with data from Landmark's geophysical, petrophysical, wellbore planning and reservoir framework modeling tools leads to improved accuracy in defining stratigraphic relationships. The ability to view and correlate hundreds of wells in a single 3D view greatly improves interpretation efficiency. StratWorks 3D offers multidisciplinary asset teams a visual environment for working together to evaluate prospects, resolve complex reservoir geometries, select drilling locations and optimize production.
