FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 8, 2002
LANDMARK GRAPHICS AND 4TH WAVE IMAGING RELEASE PROMAX 4D
Innovative 4-D Seismic Processing Technology Improves Time-Lapse Seismic Images
HOUSTON, Texas - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), and 4th Wave Imaging, a recognized leader in time-lapse technology, today announced the release of ProMAX 4D, a suite of innovative processing technologies that improve 4-D seismic images. As a result, E&P companies can more accurately interpret fluid flow and pressure changes in oil and gas reservoirs. Leveraging proprietary cross-equalization algorithms from 4th Wave Imaging, the two companies co-developed ProMAX 4D, which is built on Landmark's ProMAX®, the industry's most commercially used interactive seismic processing system.
"Landmark's leading-edge 4-D technologies enable our customers to monitor their recovery programs and maximize reservoir productivity," said Andy Lane, president and CEO of Landmark. "The unique 4-D seismic technology provided by ProMAX 4D will greatly improve key reservoir management decisions for our clients."
ProMAX 4D technology equalizes time-lapse 3-D surveys which isolates the seismic response to reservoir changes due to recovery techniques or production. The ability to remove variable recording and processing signatures from successive seismic surveys provides more accurate images of reservoir conditions. ProMAX 4D includes the complete suite of ProMAX seismic processing and quality control tools.
"Application of 4-D seismic technology enables E&P companies to make time-lapse images of reservoir fluid flow, to monitor reservoir performance during production and to locate bypassed oil," said Dr. David Lumley, president and CEO of 4th Wave Imaging. "Leveraging 4-D seismic to improve reservoir management decisions can help optimize recovery and profitability on oil-producing assets."
"Landmark's ProMAX 4D cross-equalization technology has allowed us to clearly see time-lapse anomalies from our CO2 flood program at Weyburn field," said Guoping Li, senior staff geophysicist, EnCana Corporation. "The 4-D processing results provided by 4th Wave Imaging are helping us monitor tertiary recovery and meet production goals."
