LANDMARK RELEASES ULTRA - PROBABILISTIC WIRELINE DATA ANALYSIS AND PETROPHYSICAL MODELING TOOLS
-Advanced formation evaluation solutions now available in Landmark's R2003 interpretation environment-
DALLAS, TX - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), today announced that ULTRA™, a Halliburton specialty application, is now available in the PetroWorks™ R2003 family of petrophysical solutions. ULTRA is a package of advanced petrophysical tools for use in multi-well environments. Based on probabilistic analysis, ULTRA provides industry-leading estimates of wellbore lithology and fluid properties for the entire reservoir.
"Increasingly complex reservoirs, more sophisticated wellbore measurements and advanced interpretive models are challenging conventional reservoir evaluation methods," said Andy Lane, president and CEO of Landmark. "ULTRA overcomes these limitations and provides much more rapid and accurate formation evaluation with a high degree of confidence. Integrating ULTRA into Landmark's interpretation environment will enable our customers to better understand their reservoirs and ultimately optimize asset development."
ULTRA, developed by Halliburton Energy Services, leverages statistical optimization techniques that analyze variation in borehole conditions and uncertainty in tool response to provide a probabilistic model of reservoir properties. From an easy-to-use interactive interface, users are able to specify which measurements, assumptions, local knowledge or geological and geophysical constraints to apply in the modeling. ULTRA is designed for multi-well and multi-zone batch processing to significantly increase productivity. Log curves, processing parameters and analysis stored in the OpenWorks environment are available in real-time to the entire asset team, leading to an integrated reservoir description, greatly enhanced definition of reservoir potential and better exploration and development decisions.
"The release of Halliburton's ULTRA technology in the PetroWorks environment provides the industry with a unique and powerful tool that will improve the quality of reservoir evaluations and reserves estimates," said John Gibson, president of Halliburton Energy Services. "This technology demonstrates the innovative solutions that Landmark and Halliburton are delivering together."
