MAGIC EARTH LAUNCHES SPECDECOMPINTERACTIVE FOR GEOPROBE
-New utility increases precision of industry-leading visual interpretation software-
DALLAS, TX - Magic Earth, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), announced today the release of SpecDecompInteractive™, a powerful utility for reservoir imaging and interpretation. SpecDecompInteractive, based on spectral decomposition algorithms developed by BP, facilitates qualitative analysis of reservoir boundaries, heterogeneities and thickness through innovative processing and imaging of 3D seismic data. Incorporated into Magic Earth's volume visual interpretation software, GeoProbe®, the technology allows for fine-tuned qualitative interpretation of reservoir properties, coupled with the industry-leading visualization speed of GeoProbe. The utility debuted today at the 2002 European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) annual conference in Florence, Italy. It will be available to customers in the next release of the GeoProbe attribute module and available immediately in client service projects contracted with Magic Earth.
"SpecDecompInteractive represents the continual addition of solutions that leverage the speed and power of Magic Earth's technology and improve precision of reservoir analysis," said Michael Zeitlin, president and CEO. "Through our relentless pace of technology innovation and implementation we are continually moving closer to a faster, more complete understanding of the true subsurface geology. The availability of SpecDecompInteractive as part of GeoProbe takes a powerful tool in spectral decomposition mathematics that makes it quick to calculate and allows for interactive interpretation. We are delighted with our pace of innovation and the value we bring to our customers' investment in their 3D datasets through constant improvements in our technology."
The addition of SpecDecompInteractive to the robust list of seismic attributes accessible in GeoProbe enables more detailed reconnaissance of large surveys to detect potential reservoir systems or thicker sand units. With SpecDecompInteractive and GeoProbe, this capability is available as a real-time, interactive, all-in-one-package.
In March, Landmark Graphics, also a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton, released SpecDecomp™, which works on high-resolution 16- and 32-bit data. Magic Earth's SpecDecompInteractive generates calculations on 8-bit volumes and takes full advantage of GeoProbe's multi-CPU processing to allow quick analysis of large datasets.
Magic Earth, Inc. specializes in high-performance volume visualization and interpretation solutions including GeoProbe software, consultation services for interpretation projects, training and large-screen immersive visualization centers.
