KBR JOINT VENTURE TEAM WINS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE JOB ORDER CONTRACT FROM US ARMY

ARLINGTON, Virginia - Kellogg Brown & Root's (KBR) Government Operations division, along with its joint venture partner, KUK Construction LLC, has been awarded its fourth consecutive Job Order Contract (JOC) for the Army Corps of Engineers at Forts Richardson, Wainwright and Greely in Alaska. KBR is the wholly owned engineering and construction subsidiary of Halliburton (NYSE: HAL). The Alaska JOC IV contract is valued at $125 million over five years, with a one-year base period and four one-year options.

KUK, a native Alaskan-owned company, has been a subcontractor to KBR while participating in a Department of Defense-sponsored mentor-protégé program, and will now be managing partner of the 51/49 joint venture.

"This is proof that the mentor-protégé program works," said Harry Froehle, KBR's project general manager.

Back in 1987, the original Alaska JOC I contract was the first contract awarded to the newly established Brown & Root Services Corporation, now known as KBR Government Operations. Since then, KBR has been in continual service to the Army in Alaska on JOC I, II, and III contracts. In fact, for its work on the current JOC III contract, KBR was the recipient of the 2001 US Army Department of Public Works (DPW) Support Contractor of the Year Award, a very prestigious award that the Army Corps of Engineers makes annually to only one support contractor nationwide. KBR also won the same DPW Contractor of the Year award in 1997, for a similar project at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Work under the JOC IV contract includes facilities upgrades, renovations, repairs and minor construction at Alaska's three primary Army forts - Richardson, Wainwright and Greely - on a job order basis.

Tom Crum, Chief Operating Officer, discussed the significance of the contract: "We are especially proud of our relationship with the U.S. Army. We have been supporting the Army since 1951, when we began renovating WWII era tanks for use in the Korean War - to more recently supporting troops combating terrorism in Central Asia. Our selection for this fourth successive contract demonstrates our continuing commitment to excellence and our desire to be an integral part of the Army team."

KBR Government Operations operates throughout the world with major offices in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, specializing in comprehensive facilities engineering, design, development, construction management, operations, maintenance and logistics support for government clients worldwide.

KBR is an international, technology-based engineering and construction company, which provides a full spectrum of industry-leading services for governments, public infrastructure and to the hydrocarbon, chemical, energy, and forest products industries.
