HALLIBURTON ACHIEVES READINESS FOR NEW PROCUREMENT STANDARDS INITIATED BY AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE
DALLAS, Texas - Halliburton Energy Services, Inc., a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), announced today that it is ready to comply with the American Petroleum Institute's (API) Recommended Practice 3901, e-Commerce transaction standards recently introduced by the API's e-Commerce Committee's Petroleum Industry Data Exchange (PIDX).
These standards take the upstream petroleum industry a step closer toward seamless interoperability using eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and will contribute to the environment needed to minimize duplication of effort in paper transactions between service companies and operators. Among the 12 transactions that are included in the standards are requests for quotations, order create, field tickets and invoices.
Halliburton Energy Services is a member of the PIDX Complex Products and Services steering committee. The company has completed two pilot programs using the new standards.
"These standards will allow transactional information between Halliburton and its customers to flow securely across the Internet, enabling machine-to-machine real-time communication for scoping, execution and settlement of jobs with complex products and services, said John Gibson, president, Halliburton Energy Services. "Our readiness is in line with our desire to maintain our leadership in the oil and gas services industry. These standards provide us with the capability and flexibility to take information for complex products and services from the front end of the solution to the end of the supply chain."
