FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 08, 2001
LANDMARK GRAPHICS ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF ILEX TECHNOLOGIES, LTD.
DALLAS, Texas - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), today announced acquisition of UK-based ILEX Technologies, Ltd. ILEX is a leading provider of Web-based data management solutions for the oil and gas industry, and brings the industry's most comprehensive data cataloging and integration capabilities to Landmark's e-workspace.
"Landmark will be the premier e-workspace for the E&P industry and is a perfect fit for the ILEX data integration technology," said John Gibson, president and CEO of Landmark. "Data management has long been a challenge for the oil and gas industry, and the combined technologies of these two companies will help provide unmatched project data lifecycle solutions. The addition of the ILEX team also gives us strategic presence in the critical European markets."
The ILEX acquisition will provide an important foundational aspect of Landmark's comprehensive project data lifecycle solutions, designed to provide E&P asset teams with a single point of access to collect, analyze and manage all project data from multiple, disparate sources. ILEX's technology enables dynamic integration of legacy databases and automatic data catalog publishing without the need for complex database query languages. The Landmark - ILEX
combination enables secure integration of multiple data sources and excels in online access to an easily created project data vault.
"With the addition of the ILEX solutions and personnel, Landmark will be in a unique position to dramatically reduce project set-up time for its customers," added John Gibson. "ILEX's technology brings a fresh, practical approach that acknowledges there will always be differing data formats and provides a 'mesh' that captures exactly the desired data for any project. The ILEX team's experience and their technology mesh nicely with our ongoing plans to rapidly deliver application and data service provider solutions, as well as IT outsourcing services to the marketplace."

The company's unique data integration and cataloging technology, built from the ground up for Web-based remote data management, allows for the implementation of a centralized Internet-, Extranet- or Intranet-based project data management system.
