LANDMARK ACQUIRES UNIQUE E&P INFORMATION PORTAL SOFTWARE FROM EXPRODAT LTD

-Web software provides rapid, intuitive access to E&P data, information and knowledge through a single interface -

DALLAS, Texas - Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL), today announced the acquisition of software technology from Exprodat Ltd, providing Web-browser information access to users of Landmark's OpenWorks™ data management solution. As a result of the acquisition, Landmark assumes ownership and responsibility for the Project Browser and Project Documenter products and will market them as Web OpenWorks™ (WOW), part of its E&P Information Management (IM) suite.

"The Web paradigm has a great deal to offer our industry and is central to Landmark's strategy for delivering highly productive decision support information technology (IT) solutions," said John Gibson, president and CEO of Landmark Graphics. "In particular, we are focused on delivering IT solutions that dramatically change the way our customers acquire, manage and access their data, information and knowledge. Our integrated, Web-centric approach to information management enables users to 'find it fast and capture the value.' This technology from Exprodat provides easy access to project information, and can serve as a core component an E&P corporate portal."

Web OpenWorks is an intuitive way for users to dynamically browse the contents of Landmark's OpenWorks™, SeisWorks™ and Z-MAP Plus™ projects without the need for a detailed understanding of underlying operating systems, applications or databases. Users may dynamically search, browse and report both within and across multiple projects, as well as display images and documents. WOW integrates directly with OpenExplorer™, OpenJournal™ and ESRI's ArcView™ and ArcIMS™ GIS products, and provides capabilities to add value and context to key project metadata through a simple, yet powerful browser interface, making documentation an intuitive and integral part of the project data store. This product assists the entire asset team by providing rapid access to information and enhancing the capture and sharing of project knowledge.

"We are pleased to have acquired this innovative Web-enabled portal technology from an independent third party like Exprodat. Their ability to create such an integral component of the workflow is a further demonstration of Landmark's commitment to an open, extensible architecture based on OpenWorks™," said John Wilson, executive vice president of marketing for Landmark.

"This is a win-win situation for both Exprodat and Landmark," said Bruce Rodney, director of Exprodat. "The WOW product neatly complements the Landmark solution suite. This software technology acquisition provides Landmark with leading-edge, Web-based IM and knowledge capture tools as part of their wider range of solutions. It also enables Exprodat to focus on what we do best: providing independent IM consultancy services and technology innovation for our clients."
