HALLIBURTON SUBSEA RENEWS CONTRACTS WITH BP AND STATOIL

DALLAS, Texas - Halliburton Subsea, a business unit of Halliburton's (NYSE: HAL) Energy Services Group, has announced the successful conclusion of a series of negotiations with BP, Statoil, ProSafe, and CNS, which secures its roles on both the West of Shetland and Åsgard field projects.

Under the arrangements, the MSV Regalia will demobilise immediately from the West of Shetland works and re-mobilise in the Åsgard field. Scheduled to work continuously on the Åsgard pipeline repair project through April 2002, the vessel will then switch back to West of Shetland until autumn of 2002.

The Åsgard project will be executed under Halliburton Subsea's joint venture with Stolt Offshore. Initially, the Regalia will be joined by the MSV Semi 2 and the ROV support vessel Seaway Kingfisher. In order to complete BP's 2001 scope for West of Shetland, the MSV Subsea Viking is being refitted to full subsea intervention specification to include the capability of deploying specialist DMAC tooling equipment. It is expected she will commence operations in late October and will continue for approximately six weeks.Commenting on the awards, John Smith, vice president, Halliburton Subsea, said, "The deepwater work on the Åsgard and West of Shetland fields is highly complex, requiring state of the art robotic techniques. We are pleased that both BP and Statoil have shown continued faith and support for Halliburton Subsea’s expertise in this arena."
