HALLIBURTON SUBSEA AWARDED CONTRACT TO REPAIR SUBSEA CONNECTORS FOR STATOIL AT THE ÅSGARD FIELD

DALLAS, Texas - Halliburton Subsea, a subsidiary within Halliburton Company’s (NYSE: HAL) Energy Services Group, has been awarded a work order from Statoil to repair subsea connectors in the Åsgard field under a frame agreement for Marine Operations. Valued at approximately NOK 250 million (U.S. $27.5 million), the work order includes the recovery of spool pieces to surface for repair, as well as the recovery of several pipeline ends.

The Åsgard field, which is located 250 km north off Kristiansund in the Haltenbank area, is one of Norway's largest oil and gas fields, and came on stream in 1999. A critical weakness has been identified in several hubs (pipeline connectors), requiring that the connectors be changed. The Statoil replacement agreement calls for specially designed and fabricated equipment; the Semi 2, MSV Maxita and MV Geofjord will be utilized as tie-in vessels. The Åsgard field water depth ranges from 245 to 310 meters, and all subsea construction work will be performed diverless.

Commenting on the award, Edgar Ortiz, Halliburton Energy Services Group president and chief executive officer, said, "This project calls for special skills in marine and underwater technology. Halliburton Subsea is committed to providing Statoil with the best resources in order to meet the demanding schedule and technical challenges."

Country Director, Halliburton Subsea in Norway, Jens Christian Terjesen added, "This is the largest work scope awarded under our new frame agreement with Statoil, and we are delighted with this important project."

In order to meet the client's schedule, the project team commenced with design work immediately following receipt of the work order. The offshore program will begin the first of May with completion scheduled for the end of the year.
