HALLIBURTON SUBSEA TO CHARTER M/V "SEISRANGER"

ABERDEEN, Scotland - Halliburton Subsea, a business unit of Halliburton Company's (NYSE:HAL) Energy Services Group, is to charter the M/V Seisranger for a three-year period with options to extend. The vessel, owned by E Forland Shipowner of Bergen, Norway, is undergoing a major conversion from a seismic vessel to a deepwater intervention support and construction vessel and will be in service this summer.

Halliburton Subsea, a leading offshore construction, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and survey contractor, already operates a fleet of diving, construction, ROV and survey vessels world-wide.

"Chartering this vessel will increase the company's capabilities still further," said Edgar Ortiz, president and CEO, Halliburton's Energy Services Group. "Once the upgrade is completed, the Seisranger will have a fully redundant dynamic positioning (DP) system, 500square metres of working deck space fitted with 50 tonne offshore crane and stern-mounted a frame, and a helideck capable of handling S61 helicopters."

ROV capabilities will include two permanently fitted systems: a moonpool launched workclass ROV and a side-door launched observation class ROV. Both ROV systems will be accommodated in a spacious enclosed hanger, complete with workshops, to enable operation and maintenance to be carried out in a safe and protected environment. The hanger will adjoin the main accommodation area and the purpose-built operations area comprising ROV control room, data gathering and processing areas and office space for client representatives.

The introduction of the Seisranger to Halliburton Subsea's operating fleet will provide additional capability in ROV survey and inspection work and medium construction support.

"The multi-purpose support vessel is intended to satisfy the demands of the offshore industry," said John Smith, vice president, Halliburton Subsea. "On completion of the conversion Halliburton intends to deliver an operational system which can significantly improve data quality, acquisition times and safety whilst realising cost benefits to its clients."

Halliburton Company, founded in 1919, is the world's largest provider of products and services to the petroleum and energy industries. The company serves its customers with a broad range of products and services through its Energy Services Group and Engineering and Construction Group business segments.
