FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 3, 2001
HALLIBURTON WILL CONSOLIDATE MAJORITY OF HOUSTON OPERATIONS AT NEW SOUTHWEST HOUSTON LOCATION
Oak Park Will Offer World Class Campus to 8,000 Employees
DALLAS, Texas – Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) announced today the consolidation of most of its Houston operations at a 67-acre campus called Oak Park in Houston, Texas. When complete in 2004, the office park will house just over 8,000 employees and centralize the operations of Halliburton’s Energy Services Group and its Engineering and Construction Group.
The selected site is located near the intersection of Beltway 8 and Bellaire in the Westchase District ? a leading office community and one of Houston’s best established growth areas. Currently the site includes a 580,000 square foot office building. The fully developed campus will include three new high-rise towers, parking garages, a new cafeteria, and other central facilities, including skybridges that will link the structures. The additions will add nearly 2 million square feet of new office space, for a total of more than 2.5 million square feet.
"Oak Park will offer a dynamic setting for Halliburton's consolidated operations," said Dave Lesar, Halliburton chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We are excited to offer our employees a high tech, state-of-the-art office campus that will help keep Halliburton at the leading edge of our competition."
Halliburton chose the Oak Park campus site after a year-long study of employee locations and preferences, business unit needs and requirements, operational patterns, and real estate market conditions. In addition to accessibility, the location offers easy access to Houston from Beltway 8. The construction of the Westpark Tollway, just to the north, and plans for a new METRO Park and Ride facility nearby, were other significant factors.
The campus architect is Gensler, the largest architectural firm in the U.S. and recipient of last year’s "Firm of the Year" Award by the American Institute of Architects. Selection of a general contractor will be announced early in August.
The Staubach Company of Houston and Dallas will advise Halliburton on the disposition of its existing properties, including its facilities east of Houston’s downtown.
Halliburton Company, founded in 1919, is the world's largest provider of products and services to the petroleum and energy industries. The company serves its customers with a broad range of products and services through its Energy Services Group and Engineering and Construction Group business segments.
